2. Cleaning Performance

Suction Power & Noise

Both models have a noise level of 62 decibels and suction capacities of 600 Pa

Filters

The Roomba 694 comes with a standard filter, and the Roomba 675 comes equipped with a HEPA filter, ensuring the robot is suitable for those suffering from asthma or allergies.

The filters in Roomba aren’t removable for washing. You need to change the filter at least every three months.

Robot’s Ability to Walk

With a total cleaning area of 120 square meters, Roomba 694 has a somewhat smaller cleaning space than Roomba 675, which has 150 square meters.

With the 16 mm climbing capacity, both are suitable for more dense carpets. They can also easily go over the threshold of a door (if less than 1.6 centimeters).

Each robot is equipped with various sensors to prevent them from hitting objects, falling over, and keeping them within 10 millimeters from furniture and walls.

Ability to Sweep and Suck

Carpet boost: Both robots vacuum recognize carpets and change the suction power by specific carpet kinds.

The side brush and the back come with a rubber side brush.

Unique rubber Dual Multi-Surface brushes don’t become entangled in pet hair. Brushes can adjust and flex to maintain constant contact with hard flooring and carpets.

The Cleaning Brush comes with a brush for cleaning with tips that can be detached and is simpler to clean because hair tends to get blocked at the edge. Furthermore, the latest brush comes with 250% more bristles, which means it can pick up more.

Mopping the floor: Both devices only clean and sweep.

Treatment for Dirt

iRobot Roomba 675 and 694 both come with dirt-detecting sensors. It’s a system that can detect areas frequented by traffic, making the cleaner pass over the areas a few times until it’s completely clean.

Both have a trash bin capacity of 350ml.

Both aren’t able to empty themselves if the bin is filthy, and it will stop cleaning once the bin needs to be empty. The Roomba 694 will alert users when it is filled. However, the Roomba 675 doesn’t.

3. Vacuum Power

The most vital element of vacuum power will be the motor. It is responsible for delivering suction force that lifts the dirt accumulated on the floor.

A high-quality vacuum cleaner must come with a strong and reliable motor. It should also be quiet.

Roomba 694

Roomba 694 has a First Generation motor that produces approximately 550-600 Pa, making it perfect for removing dirt from floors and low piles.

While it can be effective on carpets with medium piles, the results aren’t that excellent.

Roomba 675

However, Roomba 675 has maintained the first Generation motor, which can also deliver an average of 550 to 600Pa.

The operation is also quiet. However, you should just use it for floors that are not bare and for high pile carpet cleaning.

4. Battery Comparison

With an 1800 mAh Lithium-Ion battery, Roomba 675 can operate for approximately 90 minutes and requires 120 minutes to fully charge.

Roomba 694 is powered by a Lithium-Ion battery that can hold 2130 mAh. It can work for approximately 90 minutes and takes about 180 minutes to fully recharge.

If the two robot vacuums fail to finish the job in a single charge, they will return to the dock that charged them; however, once fully charged, they’ll not be able to go back to the place they started. This isn’t a good choice for big residences.

5. Brush System

Roomba 675 3

The brush system functions together with the motor as the brush move dirt while the suction draws dirt. The side brush is also available, which sweeps dirt into the vacuum, ready to be suctioned.

Roomba 694

Roomba 694 is equipped with an elongated multi-surface bristle system.

Attention

It’s great for the process of agitating dirt and cleaning it on any surface. The only issue is constant tangling, particularly for long-haired breeds of dogs. The bristles are not the best choice for fragile floors like hardwood since they scratch at them.

On the other side, there is a sweeping brush to smooth the edges of the walls.

Roomba 675

The latest Roomba 675 comes with an innovative dual multi-surface brushing system.

Attention

This time it’s not a bristle-based brush but a rubber extractor, which is soft on hard flooring, similar to hardwood; however, it can be tangled if you continue working with long dog hairs.

It also has a sweeping side brush that can be used for walls and corners, where the round style of the Roomba will not allow it to extend.

6. Dirt Detection

So far, iRobot has released two Dirt Detect systems.

  • The first one is called Dirt Detect 1.0. It detects dirt using acoustic sensors.
  • The other one includes Dirt Detect 2.0, which combines optical and acoustic sensors.

Roomba 694

Roomba 694 has an older system, which can be useful in identifying areas that have a lot of Dirt. However, it’s not as efficient as the Series II.

System Dirt Detect Series I

Roomba 675

The 675 also includes the Dirt Detect Series I, and although there is a better system, it’s an excellent value considering that other brands don’t have this feature.

7. Tests For Cleanliness

Roomba 675 4

We conducted thorough cleaning tests on various surfaces using common household dirt.

Hence, we tested both vacuums on carpets made of hardwood, low pile, and high pile carpets. We utilized Cheerios sugar, flour, rice, kitty litter, pet hair, and sand.

So how do you think Roomba 694 as well as 675 do?

Test of Hardwood Floor

The hardwoods, Roomba 675 and 694, were excellent at cleaning up the dirt we threw in their path.

The biggest obstacle seemed to be caused by gluten. Both created a cloudy area due to tiny particles that could not be removed. However, after a few passes, the entire cloud disappeared.

We think the 675 is worthy of the title here due to its rubber extraction tools. At the very least, they were soft on the floor in contrast to the bristle brushes.

Carpet Test for Low Pile

On the low piles, the two Roombas also did an excellent job. The large dirt particles, including Cheerios, were swept up without issue.

However, the two battled for a while with the smaller dirt particles such as flour, sugar, and cat litter. At the end of their day, they were able to gather the majority of dirt.

Carpet Test With High Pile

It was the most grueling test and overpowered both Roombas. The high pile demands strong vacuum power to clear the dirt hidden within the pile and long lengths of strands.

Attention

Unfortunately, Roomba 675 and Roomba 694 don’t have powerful suction. They took in Cheerios but not much else.

The remainder of the dirt isn’t removed very effectively, so we’ve always recommended that you purchase the right carpet-specific vacuums, such as the Roomba 980 or Botvac ConnectedD7.

8. Filtration System

Robot vacuums, similar to upright and canister vacuums, do more than just take up Dirt; they also eliminate the bad smelly smell and, most importantly, allergens.

Roomba 694

Roomba 694 is made using the original AeroVac filtering system, which utilizes HEPA-type filters. It’s not an ideal option for those with allergies; however, considering the low cost, it’s not something that should bother you.

Of course, it is recommended that if you suffer from severe allergies, you should get a Roomba that has a brand new AeroForce filtering system.

Roomba 675

The same filtering system is used within Roomba 675.

It can capture mild allergens and other unpleasant smells but is not as effective and impressive as the more advanced Roomba equipped with AeroForce HEPA filters like, for example, the Roomba 890 or 980.

9. Runtime

Roomba 694

Roomba 694 has a 1800mAh lithium-ion battery which will last around 90 minutes on unfinished floors and 60 minutes when carpets are used. It will charge when the battery is exhausted; however, it won’t be able to start cleaning again after it has recharged.

  • Average: 90min
  • Battery: 1800mAh
  • Recharge time is between 2 and 3 hours.

Roomba 675

The latest Roomba 675 is also equipped with a 1800mAh battery that lasts about an hour, which is a little smaller than the Roomba 694. It also recharges on its own but does not have the resume feature. This is not the best choice if you live in an enormous space. Choose the Roomba 980 since they can restart cleaning after recharge.

  • Average: 60min
  • Battery: 1800mAh
  • Recharge time: Between 2-3 hours.

10. Scheduling

Roomba 675 2

Roomba 694

iRobot Roomba 694 has a programmatic cleaning feature. It can be programmed by using your Smartphone or manually by pressing the buttons.

Roomba 675

The Roomba 675 also has the option of scheduling. It can also be programmed via the app or manually by pressing buttons. It is not possible to program it to clean only once every day.

11. Navigation and Maneuverability

Roomba 675 1

Robot vacuums function independently. They don’t require you to push or operate the button by hands, such as upright vacuums or canisters. When selecting a vacuum, there are many things to consider regarding mobility and navigation.

Navigation

There are three different systems:

  • iAdapt,
  • Its iAdapt 2.0,
  • iAdapt 3.0.
Roomba 694

Roomba 694 has the older iAdapt 1.0 navigation system that uses sensors to locate its location within the house. It’s not the ideal choice for large rooms or huge apartments since it is often stuck and is prone to hitting obstructions.

Roomba 675

Roomba 675 is also equipped with the older iAdapt 1.0 navigation, despite being launched recently. Like the 694, do not expect it to move without hitting obstructions here and there.

12. Smart Connectivity

Roomba 694

Roomba 694 was launched alongside the smart vacuum 890. It is equipped with 2.4Ghz WiFi and supports Google Assistant and Alexa.

Roomba 675

The 675 model also has 2.4Ghz WiFi to operate smartphones and Alexa. While the new Roomba models will come with Wireless updates, it’s still not known if the 675 will also be compatible with these updates.

13. Floor Mapping Feature

Roomba 675 6

Roomba 694

Roomba 694 is a smart scanner and mapping and the iAdapt 1.0. We would not say it’s the best, but it will do an excellent job of cleaning within 40 minutes for typical-sized homes.

Roomba 675

In the instance of Roomba 675, the mapping and scanning system remains based on iAdapt 1.0. We did find that it’s at the very least smarter and can make better decisions due to the updated software.

If you want the robot to travel to a certain location, it is possible to use this app to control it remotely to control its motions by sending it to the location you wish to.

In addition, using the Target Point feature, you can click on the map then the machine will travel to the location you want it to go. This is much more convenient than using the remote.

In addition, you can control both robot vacuums using voice commands using Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa Support.

4. Scheduled Activities

iRobot Roomba 692 4

Both have basic scheduling capabilities. You can only program it to work at a particular date and time during the week.

Roomba 675, as well as Roomba 694, do not come with the digital virtual wall option. However, you can purchase another virtual wall to make a zone that is not accessible.
