We are suckers for DIY projects to learn something new and save some money.
However, as with anyone who works on DIY projects, it’s easy to become messy, especially when the wood is being ground.
A regular vacuum will not meet the demands of this. You’ll need something that is heavy-duty and has adequate suction to deal with these kinds of particles.
The Makita BCL180W can do this because it has a powerful enough motor to take in debris such as bolts, and sawdust, which other vacuums have trouble with.
The lithium-ion battery that is 18 volts, can charge in less than 15 minutes. That decreases the amount of time it takes to charge.
Based on numerous internet reviews, this product is ideal for flooring and rugs that aren’t covered as it can get the majority but not all dirt off and out. But don’t anticipate it to perform as well as a canister/upright in terms of performance – no cordless models can do that, anyway.
Of the cordless vacuums available on the marketplace, this one is the lightest, weighing less than 3 pounds.
One of the best features that the BCL180W comes with is its capability to work with the battery from different Makita power tools. Also, it can be used with the larger 3-ampere LXT batteries of the other Makita power tools.
Here’s a complete listing of tools compatible with the LXT series batteries.

What Are the Main Features of This Makita Bcl180w?
This Makita model is light and fast to charge (only about 15 minutes). It’s a great choice when you have children at home and want to get rid of the mess they make but don’t have the patience to sit for hours waiting for it to fully charge. Other models, especially ones that have lithium batteries, will require at minimum 5 hours to fully charge.
The well-designed ergonomic, compact, light design ensures that you don’t put your arms in strain when you use this.
It could be utilized to replace a broom or dustpan as it doesn’t take up much cabinet space – make sure to note it is heavy.

1. Charge time
The battery can take only 15 minutes to fully charge.
One reason for this is the charger comes with a chip that is directly connected with the battery and regulates the temperature and voltage as well as an internal fan to keep the battery cool during the charging process – this will prolong the battery’s life.
Don’t keep the battery connected to the charger longer than the period of 15 minutes (or when it’s empty), as it may decrease its service life over time as well. Makita recommends unplugging immediately once it’s fully charged.
2. Attachments and accessories
It comes with three accessories – an extension tool, a crevice tool wand, along a floor sprayer. In the package, it consists of an 18-volt lithium-ion lithium battery and a charger.
3. Battery life
If you charge it fully, that’s about a maximum of 10 minutes when you simply let it go on. However, it will last longer if you switch it on intermittently.
If you’d like to make it last longer, purchase the LXT 18-volt battery for backup, which will provide you with 20 minutes of uninterrupted use.
Be aware this 3.0ah LXT battery will take more than twice as long to recharge, around 30 minutes.
A side note: Makita advises that the battery should not be completely drained since doing it repeatedly could be detrimental to the lifespan of the battery, possibly reducing the battery’s lifespan over time.

If you sense that the battery is close to being empty, turn off the power and then charge.
In one review, a user stated that it’s best to allow the battery to cool before charging it. Since this can also prolong the battery’s life, he advised users to not charge it right away and wait for a while before connecting the charger.

4. Filter clean up
Removing the filter is fairly simple. It’s as simple as twisting the container then emptying it onto a garbage bin.
The filter should be shaken or tapped to get rid of any loose dirt and debris that may be on it. Give the filter an inspection to determine whether it’s clogged.
If you regularly use this, then wash the two filters with running water mnimum once per week since performance can decrease in the event of a device that’s blocked.
Put it in a large garbage container and stay away from your face, particularly if the area you cleared is smoky because dust tends to be all over the place.
There are two components in the filter: an outer mesh filter to block larger particles. The inner filter is made of cloth, which is used to filter particles of dirt.
Both can be washed. However, it is still recommended to keep an extra filter in an area with a lot of dust because dust is denser and can cause more clogging.
Makita provides a 3-year guarantee. However, there’s only a year’s warranty on the battery and charger. We were hoping they would also offer three years for the entire thing. This would certainly improve the rating of the product.
6. Pet Hair Removal
There isn’t an attachment for hair, which can draw pet hair from chairs or sofas. However, we were able to see plenty of happy pet owners. They were among the satisfied customers due to their ability to get rid of not only pet hair but feathers, bird droppings as well as poop and feathers scattered across the tray, and even on empty floors!
7. Carpet Performance
The vacuum works well with carpets that have a low pile. However, it’s not able to clean everything the way it does on harder flooring.
If you’ve got more dense carpets in your home, you might think about getting one that is more powerful, with extended battery life, or a brush that is equipped with a rolling one that can help dig out dirt on more luxurious carpeting.
As it will only last approximately 10 to 15 minutes, you shouldn’t do this carpet if you have wall-to-carpeting on your walls.
However, for rug use, it is a great job since it’s not too robust that mats can’t stick to it, but it is robust enough to sift through dirt and dust that is scattered across it.
8. Bare Floor Performance
The majority of online reviews proved this to be true – it performs great on wooden, tiled flooring, and all kinds of plain floors and is capable of taking up smaller and larger objects that fit through the floor tool and crevice without difficulty at all.
It is powerful enough to remove smaller to medium-sized pieces of debris that pass through the nozzle. You could even utilize it to remove the mess caused by other power tools.
The top of the floor attachment comes with four wheels and a squeegee to help it be able to glide across floors with ease with a lower risk of scratching the floor similarly Tineco A10.
