LG CordZero A9 Ultimate Review: Worth Buying?

You are currently viewing LG CordZero A9 Ultimate Review: Worth Buying?

We’re brought you LG CordZero A9 Ultimate Review to explain whether this A9 Ultimate model is worth buying or not.

People often think of LG when they mention their home appliances, such as washing machines, LED TVs, and air conditioners.

They also make cordless vacuums. We’ll be reviewing the LG CordZero a9 in this review.

It is similar to a Dyson cordless vacuum but has some useful features that are not found in Dyson. This storage stand is one example. It can charge two batteries simultaneously and store tools.

Since we oppose drilling holes, it is high up on our priority list.

To find out the effectiveness of this stick vacuum in cleaning and ergonomics, we spent hours testing it.

Summary of LG CordZero

If you’re searching for a premium stick vacuum that is comparable to Dyson’s performance, the LG CordZero could be a good choice. The CordZero cleans as well as Dyson premium models such as the V11 Outsize or V15 Detect but at a much lower price.

The steering is nearly as good as Dyson’s premium models, which is a surprise. However, there is one issue: Filtration.

The CordZero is LG’s first venture into cordless vacuuming. It’s a great product. The self-standing dock that stores the handheld tools and can charge two batteries at once is a great feature.

The floor tools’ design dynamic means that cleaning performance is exceptional despite the low airflow (compared with Dyson). There are some downsides to this floor tool, such as the fact that it isn’t completely sealed in terms of filtration.

Pros

PROS
  • A dock that can be erected on its own can hold up to four attachments and simultaneously charge two batteries.
  • Amazing cleaning performance for both embedded and surface dirt.
  • The ergonomics of the handle controls are excellent.
  • Its stick vacuum configuration has good ergonomics.
  • Two detachable batteries.
  • The hair wrap tests on carpets, hard floors and upholstery were successful.

Cons

CONS
  • Loud at high settings (approximately 80 decibels).
  • In handheld mode, it’s a little too heavy.

Introduction to the LG CordZero A9

LG is a well-known brand for its consumer appliances, like ACs, refrigerators, mixer grinders, etc.

We’ve used their products, and they are a high-quality brand. They’ve also entered this market with their CordZero line, and we’ll be focusing our attention on the CordZeroA9 stick vacuum, which is one of LGs more expensive options for carpet cleaning.

There are two sub-variants of A9, the Ultimate or Kompressor.

The Ultimate model has a lower capacity battery and claims to run for 82 minutes (combined), while a Kompressor variant uses a larger battery that can last up to 123 minutes. The Compressor’s lever compresses dirt, dust, and pet hair almost twice as fast as the Ultimate.

The attachment set you receive will vary depending on your model. The floor type will determine which attachment set you to choose. Make sure to research these options before making a purchase. We’ll review the features and compare them to the best cordless vacuums.

Two Batteries

Two 2300 mAh lithium-ion battery packs will be included in the box. These batteries are removable, which makes it easier to swap them without having to unfasten anything.

It has a 2300-milliamp rating, which is why it isn’t as powerful as the Dyson V15 (3600mAh). Fortunately, you’re free to charge both the batteries at once, thanks to the additional storage dock.

It connects to the Tineco A11/Pure One S12 docks, but LG’s version can be erect.

Self-Standing Dock

The dock is our favorite feature in this vacuum. This is the first vacuum we’ve tested that has self-standing capabilities. Dyson’s Floor Dok is available, although it’s a costly add-on and doesn’t include the pod for an extra battery. The LG version includes that feature and slots for three additional tools.

We have the A9 variant in ou rlab. It has four tools, one out of which is left hanging. The LG CordZero A9 is undoubtedly a fabulous choice for folks who hate drilling holes or don’t wanna shed extra bucks on stands.

LG CordZero Has Five Stages of Filtration

LG CordZero Cordless

LG claims the A9 comprises a dependable 5-Step Filtration System and manages to stop 99.99% of dust particles from seeping into the exhaust. Fog tests showed that the CordZero A9 doesn’t have a completely sealed system. It started to move around the filter, first at the sides and then at the bottom.

This is a bit disappointing considering the premium-level price. I had expected more. The A9 also has a washable primary and post-motor filter.

Adjustable Wand

This is a feature we rarely see on stick vacuums. The CordZero made this feature a necessity to be able to mount the self-standing dock. It has practical uses, such as cleaning stairs or low ceiling vents.

Smart Inverter Motor

LG uses its smart inverter motor to offer these benefits:

  1. Smart energy savings
  2. Longer durability
  3. Cleaning power
  4. Lightweight and compact
  5. No carbon dust

This review will discuss power, so scroll down to find out more. Inverter motors, which are being introduced by manufacturers such as LG, promise more efficient performance besides high durability.

LG backs the talk with a 10-year warranty for the motor.

Controls

The CordZero A9’s handle buttons are easily accessible, unlike other Dyson stick vacuums which use a trigger. The A9’s stick vacuum configuration is ergonomically designed with this feature and the placement of the handles.

You can also use this without a trigger to allow you to relax your arm and wrist, reducing arm fatigue.

Design and Capacity of Dustbins

LG CordZero Cordless (2)

The A9 Ultimate does not have the dirt compacting feature. This model comprises a release lever to open a trap door beneath but no mechanism to push the dirt down.

It shouldn’t be an issue when you have daily messes such as hair and dust.

Two Brush Rolls

These nozzles are available in the box: a soft roll and a standard brush roller. The standard brush roll is great for carpet cleaning, while the soft roller (left) can be used to vacuum hard surfaces. Both come with the same steering mechanism. We loved it because it turns quickly and gives you a great feeling of control.

Accessory and Tools Out of the Box

CordZero A9 will offer consumers a lot.

  1. Crevice tool
  2. Two batteries
  3. Soft roller
  4. LG CordZero A9
  5. Standard brush roll
  6. Power punch nozzle
  7. Combination tool
  8. Stand dock

What Power Does the LG Cordzero A9 Possess?

Brands of vacuum cleaners don’t always disclose power figures. Dyson uses air watts while others use motor wattage. To check power, we use an anemometer and a water lift gauge.

An anemometer measures air turbulence and the area it covers. The extension tube and the primary cleaning nozzle are two critical components of vacuum cleaners.

These are the results of the cleaning nozzle

  • Maximum: 36.32 CFM
  • Default: 24.53 CFM

The extension tube

  • Maximum: 52 CFM
  • 31 CFM is the default

The A9’s airflow results are not impressive, particularly at the nozzle, where it failed to reach 40 CFM. It is comparable to the Shark Vertex cordless Moosoo K17.

Its cleaning performance was not affected by the lower-than-expected airflow (see next section). We’ve been increasing the number of tests we have been performing recently on stick vacuums, including our suction tests. We use a water lift gauge to measure the suction through a sealed opening.

The Y-gauge, which is a tool that reduces error variables by offering a solid platform for suction experiments, flatlines them all. This tool is primarily for central vacuums but can also be used with stick vacuums such as the LG CordZero.

  • Y-Gauge (sealed): 70”
  • Y-Gauge (unsealed): 22”
  • 50” Suction (directly to water lift gauge).

These numbers are for the maximum setting. The unsealed suction is the vacuum’s working suction and the best gauge of its suction.

The sealed suction, on the other hand, denotes the potential suction. It was difficult to determine the suction rate and seal experiment for the LG CordZero as it shows the blockage error.

Cleaning Performance of LG CordZero

LG CordZero Cordless (3)

Next, we will examine how clean the LG CordZero A9 is. It was quite impressive.

  • Overall: 98.7%
  • Sand on hard floors: 99.98%
  • Hard floor: 99.8%
  • Deep cleaning: 95.68%
  • Carpet (surface): 99.86%

These results impress a lot, keeping in mind the low-than-expected airflow numbers with surface debris. The A9 performed admirably in all surface debris pick-up tests, picking up 100% in 8 of the 12 experiments.

It was not surprising that it worked well on hard floors because it had a soft roller attachment. The vacuum’s middle-of-the-pack airflow made carpet cleaning even easier. This is due to the astounding cleaning performance of the general floor vacuum.

Results From Hard Floors

  • Quaker oats are 99.98%
  • Pet litter: 99.95%
  • Quinoa: 99.6%
  • Coffee grounds: 99.23%

This stick vacuum is the best we’ve tested on hard floors in January 2022. It picks up a high percentage and has excellent steering feedback. The nozzle spins sharply when you twist your wrist. It almost looks like a Dyson. Although it is not as smooth as Dyson’s, it is close.

Sanding on Hard Floor Test

Sand is the litmus test for any cordless vacuum. The majority of poorly designed models won’t pick up sand well, so it’s an excellent barometer to determine if the vacuum is good.

The A9 Ultimate scored a perfect 100% in both of its tests. These results were confirmed by our eye test, which showed no residue after several forward and backward passes.

Hair Wrap

Since it will struggle with stick vacuums, we only do the five- and seven-inch hair wrap tests. The A9 was so versatile that we tried it on nine- and eleven-inch hairs.

  • 5-inch: 97.6%
  • 7-inch: 81.4%
  • 9-inch: 85.8%
  • 11-inch: 85.7%

Although the results were not perfect, they were still impressive at more than 85% for nine-inch and eleven-inch experiments. The amount of hair wrapped around the axle is one reason for the uneven results. You will need to manually remove large amounts of hair (over 1g) from the filter.

Edge Cleaning

The LG soft roller was very efficient in cleaning the edges. Only a few passes were needed to get rid of this mess. The before and after photos speak for themselves. There is not much to be said.

Results from Carpet Cleaning

We were stunned by the high carpet percentages, particularly on surfaces. We tested low and mid pile carpets and found that the percentages were significantly higher than those on hard floors (99.7% vs. 99.95%).

Results with Low Pile

  • Quaker oats 99.6%
  • Coffee grounds 99.5%
  • Pet litter: 99.1%
  • Quinoa: 99.5%

Despite its low airflow, the vacuum picked up 99.5%, even on coffee grounds. This is difficult with low-airflow stick vacuums.

Results from the Mid Pile

  • Quaker oats: 99.8%
  • Coffee grounds: 99.8%
  • Pet litter: 99.9%
  • Quinoa: 99.9%

The A9 Ultimate scored a higher percentage with mid-pile carpet than low-pile. It’s again a testament to the superior design and agitation provided by the primary brush roll. The brand it was tested in wasn’t as dependent on airflow as other brands. This is evident in our deep cleaning test, which we’ll be sharing below.

Deep Cleaning

We used 200g of fine sand to rub on a mid-pile carpet for this experiment. The stick vacuum picked up 94.89% above the average.

It’s still a step below premium stick vacuums such as Lupe Pure or Dyson stick vacuums. It’s still a great result, keeping in mind its low airflow.

Carpet Hair Wrap

Because the CordZero A9 performed so well on hard floors, I needed to test it on the carpet. Here are the results.

  • 5-inch: 99.9%
  • 7-inch: 99.5%
  • 9-inch: 99.4%
  • 11-inch: 98.9%

These results are amazing for a brush without an active anti-tangle mechanism. The bristles of the brush are thick enough to not tangle and stiff enough to remove hair from carpet fibers.

This is an astonishing option for people who want to remove pet hair from carpets. The problem of hair sticking to the dustbin is still a concern.

How Loud Is the Lg Cordzero A9

Here are the results of my sound meter test.

  • Maximum: 79.4 dB
  • Low: 72.0 dB

LG claims that it can produce a noise level of 84 decibels. However, the actual reading of 79.4 decibels is lower. This vacuum is louder than cord-free stick vacuums.

What’s the Runtime of LG Cordzero A9?

According to the LG CordZero A9, it can run for 80 minutes with two batteries. When we tested it, it ran from empty to full. It ran for 42 minutes on one battery and 84 minutes on both.

It took our expert 29 minutes to reach the maximum setting, which was longer than he expected. Each battery took about 15 minutes. The A9 Compressors has a huge battery and claims a 120-minute run time.

Parts Availability

Despite the popularity of LG, you shouldn’t expect to find any Dyson-level aftermarket parts for the CordZero A9. Filter and battery can be purchased, but that’s it.

These components can be purchased on the LG website or Amazo. Third-party companies aren’t able to sell this vacuum because it isn’t as popular as it should be.

Is the LG Cordzero A9 Worth Buying?

The CordZero A9 is a great value, even at a premium price. I believe the best value-add to the CordZero A9 is its self-standing dock. It is my favorite. It not only stores the vacuum and three tools but also charges two batteries at once.

This dock is unique in that it can be used with any brand other than Samsung. Its premium-level performance is the reason.

This is one of the most effective cleaning sticks vacuums that I have tested for surface dirt. Although it is not as effective at cleaning embedded dirt as Dyson’s Outsize, V15 Detect, and V11 Torque Drive, it still has a lot of airflows.

The main problem with this vacuum is that it does not have a sealed system.

The Final Verdict:

THE FINAL ADVICE

If we keep is short, then LG CordZero A9 vacuum is all about – Excellent Cleaning Performance, Great Value, and average Filtration

Honestly, the LG CordZero A9 offers many great features. It cleans extremely well. They don’t require drilling holes and are extremely ergonomic. Although it’s not as well-known as Dyson, the A9 is a good option if you are looking for something slightly less expensive than Outsize or V11 Torque Drive.

If you are okay with the filtration issues, we discovered during the fog test.
