The Xiaomi Jimmy JV51 cordless stick vacuum is the second one that was released on the market by the company.
The Jimmy JV51 is no longer available on Amazon. It has been replaced with the JV83, which includes a “pet” option and a standard brush roll that cleans carpets well.
Xiaomi Jimmy JV51 cordless stick vacuum was an average model (we repeat average, not a good one), and if it is discontinued, then also we won’t bother much.

It offers interchangeable tools, which makes the vacuum versatile and can be used to clean floors and upholstery.
Jimmy, however, is closer to Dyson than Roidmi because of the trigger switch, soft roller head and soft rubber knob. This makes it very easy to use on hard floors.

Top Attractive Features of Jimmy JV51
The Xiaomi Jimmy JV51 comes with many interchangeable tools, making it an excellent choice for cleaning the whole house.
It is able to produce sufficient airflow, with 24 CFM at a low setting and 43 CFM at the highest setting. This is slightly lower than high-end options like the Dyson V8 or V10.
The airflow is exceptional considering the price. The Jimmy JV51 is more like a Dyson cordless than a Roidmi in terms of design.
It’s not bad because anyone who has ever searched for a cordless Dyson knows Dyson is the top dog in this market. It’s a good idea to take inspiration from a winning design.
Over the last few years, Xiaomi has been aggressive in product launches. This vacuum is a reflection. Each component is well packed and stored in a safe place. Xiaomi is a high-quality brand that puts a lot of thought into the packaging of its products.
1. Enough Accessories
This is a decent deal for the price.

The main cleaning head is very similar to that found in the Dyson V8. This tool is great for picking up dirt from carpets and hard floors.
It claims it can work with low-pile carpets, and we’ve tested this claim. It does not have a standard brush or bristles, so don’t expect it to clean your carpets perfectly.
Here is a close-up of the JV51 soft rolling tool. It has a lot of clearance and a great seal that allows it to pick up crevices well. This tool can pick up all sizes of debris, including dust and cereal-sized dirt such as Fruit loops.
The flat design of this tool makes it easy to clean under furniture. You can also swivel the tool to clean around furniture. It can be attached directly to the vacuum to clean stairs, or you can use it with the stick vacuum configuration. It is quite long, around 50 inches, in my estimation.
The main cleaning head has the same soft bar as the Dyson V8 or V6. This Roidmi is different because it has more clearance, which makes it better suited to cleaning large piles of dirt.
The Roidmi has less clearance because the soft roller bar and standard brush can be interchanged. This is not a problem since both tools are great for different surfaces. However, it can cause a snowplow effect.
This won’t cause a problem for daily cleaning since you won’t be making a mess like this every day.

2. Amazing Dirt Bin
Jimmy, unlike the Roidmi, adapts the V6 bin design so that it is placed vertically and has a trap door at its bottom. The Dyson V8 has a hygienic mechanism that pushes dirt down. This makes it a bit messy to empty.
Xiaomi made the bin so that it is easy to disassemble and clean if needed.
3. Ergonomics
This cordless is similar to the Dyson V8 and has a trigger switch. It’s different because it will stay on once you squeeze the trigger switch. You will need to squeeze the button a second time to turn it on. This approach has its pros and cons.
You don’t have to press the trigger continuously, which is a significant benefit. It’s also easier on your wrist and finger. Dyson’s trigger mechanism is not the same as that of Dyson, so the battery will be less efficient.
You will end up paying more than you need. This isn’t an issue for me because we are only talking about seconds. This is partially compensated by the long-term time.
Press the button at your back to access maximum power. It’s easy to turn the maximum setting on. It is very responsive.
4. Time to Run and Battery
Jimmy’s removable battery is my favorite feature. It can be used to recharge your vacuum even if it has been removed.
You can purchase an additional battery to reduce downtime that will double the run time. You can still use your vacuum while you charge the additional battery. Xiaomi claims that the cordless vacuum can run for approximately 45 minutes in normal mode.
The run time was tested and exceeded 44 minutes (46:30 to make it more precise) using the suction-only attachment. It will run at a maximum setting of 7 minutes and 38 seconds with the non-powered tools.
5. Filter
Jimmy comes with a HEPA filter, just like the Dyson V8. You are limited in how often you can wash it. It’s not a lifetime filter, so you will need to replace it at the very least once per year. You won’t see the second filter in my vacuum, so it will have to be kept clean.
6. Mini Turbo Brush
This cordless comes with a mini-turbo toothbrush that can be used to clean upholstery. Brushes have their motors, so the brush will move well. It doesn’t reach the sides.
It’s a Dyson mini turbo brush; although the bristles may not be as stiff as a Dyson, they will still do a decent job cleaning fabric upholstery. It is simple to remove the brush: twist the lever on the side and pull it out.

7. Other Vital Tools
You’ll get the mini turbo brush and primary cleaning head, as well as two additional attachments that can be used together. These tools come with brushes that can be pulled back, so you have a second tool to clean dirt from upholstery.
These tools are short, so they don’t have a lot of reaches and they lack a quick-release latch. The vacuum will stick to the tool only by friction. This glaring omission takes away some of JV51’s usability points.
8. Rug Performance
A rug would be the best thing to test this vacuum cleaner on. We believed that Jimmy’s effectiveness would be limited if it didn’t have a bristled instrument. It did a decent job, even though we had it on maximum to get these results.
By Jimmy’s final pass after a single back-and-forth pass, the carpet did get quite a bit of dust. We decided to go all out and get this result.
It’s not bad for a cordless vacuum. It was capable of cleaning at least the most superficial dirt. The rug has a very shallow pile, so you can expect the same results if it is installed in your home.
It is not equipped to clean your carpets.
9. Bare Floor Performance
This is the best tool out of four that come with it. It features a soft roller attachment similar to the Dyson V6/V8. This tool can clean dirt piles that you will see below because of its high clearance.
The tool will absorb dirt. It quickly cleared the mess, despite the dust clouds it created as it worked through the large pile of dirt. You wouldn’t want to use a regular brush for this job as it will push dirt forward, not clean it.
To pick up a huge pile of dirt, we didn’t have to use maximum suction. This huge pile of dirt was easy to remove. You wouldn’t normally clean such a large pile, but it’s good to know your vacuum can handle them.
10. Excellent at Cleaning Hard Floors
Although the Jimmy JV51 may not be as well-known as the Dyson V8 and V10, it is still worth considering. An anemometer was used to measure the airflow.
It measured at 24 CFM low and 43 CFM high. However, the soft brush can negate this because it is very effective on hard surfaces. It does not have a standard brush roll, so it can only clean hard floors and carpets. This vacuum is not capable of cleaning embedded dirt from carpets.

It comes with a 1-year warranty from Xiaomi.

Do I Need to Buy the Jimmy JV51
If you don’t want to shed +$300 on a cordless vacuum, the JV51 is a perfect alternative to Dyson V8. You can clean floors, upholstery, vents, and keyboards with enough tools.
The quality of vacuums made in China has improved tremendously over the last few years. It still falls short of Dyson’s overall performance and power.
The standard brush roll would have been a great addition to this product for cleaning carpets more effectively. This feature is available on the Roidmi F8, but we don’t like how it’s designed. The Jimmy JV51 is now in a newer version.
If you are:
- You want a cordless vacuum that can run longer: According to our tests, the JV51 runs for 45 minutes. This is a good run-time for a cordless product.
- A Dyson V8 is a more affordable vacuum, but it can also clean many areas of the house.
- If you live in a home that has hard floors, the soft roller cleaning head is best suited for those surfaces.
The Verdict
- If you are looking for a product with a soft roller attachment that cleans hard floors, the Jimmy JV51 is a good choice.
- Jimmy is a great alternative to the Dyson V8. It is comparable in power to the British cordless and offers the same performance.
- It features the same design cues as the Dyson V6 at a lower price.
- The Dyson warranty is much shorter than the Dyson’s at one year. However, the price difference is significant enough to offset the one-year difference.
