Dreame T30 Review: Our Testing Experience

You are currently viewing Dreame T30 Review: Our Testing Experience

Since DreameTech’s V10 was released last year, a lot has happened. One of these is the T-series, which culminates in the T30 that we’ll be reviewing today.

Based on our tests, this model has the highest power and runs for the longest time at 91 minutes. Dreame said that Dyson V15 is their target, but are they really that good? The V15 was the most efficient cordless stick vacuum we tested in December-January 2021-22 testing sessions. What does the Dreame T30 do?

This review will help you find out.

DreameTech’s newest model, the T30, has the highest suction at 27 Kpa and generates up to 190 air watts of suction. This is 40 more than the V15. This vacuum’s main selling point is its lower price.

The smart screen that displays real-time data behind the motor is one of the high-tech features. The v-shaped brush design is excellent for cleaning long hair strands. It worked well on carpet, which we tested over the last few days.

Introduction to the DreameTech T30 – 7 Major Points

The smart screen was a feature that caught our experts’ attention, and we decided to review it. Although screens aren’t a new feature, we loved Dreame’s usability and the contrast it offers.

The black background and colored text/graphics provide great readability. It is also placed behind the motor, making it easy for users to access information. The T30 features a sensor to count debris and display that information on the smart monitor through a line graph.

It does not measure particles like Dyson V15, but it only measures quantities like Tineco Pure One S12. This visual cue allows you to see which areas are clean and which are not. It does not seem to detect larger dirt particles.

We tried it in dusty areas, and the sensors were able to detect smaller particles as well as larger ones.

1. Dream Space 5.0 Motor

Dreametech T30 (3)

The variant comes with the Dream Space 5.0 motor spinning at a dizzying 150,000 rpm (25,000 more than the V15) and generating up to 190 air watts.

Realize that RPM is not a reliable way to gauge how clean a vacuum can be. This was proven by my comparison of the Dyson T30 suction to the Dyson V15 Detect vacuum using a vacuum water-lifting gauge.

The T30 was impressive with 94″ of water lift. However, it had six less than Dyson V15 (100″). As this test shows, having higher RPMs does not always mean you have higher suction.

The T30 vacuum has the best suction. It’s higher than the V11 Torque Drive and V11 Outsize, which is remarkable for a cord-free vacuum at a mid-price. Please note that the highest setting was used for the testing. We’re still fine-tuning our testing process, so please bear with us if you find inconsistencies.

2. 90-minute run time

The Dream T30’s 90-minute runtime is another selling point. Its 2900 mAh Lithium battery makes it a great choice. It lasted up to 92 minutes when used with suction-only tools. It did last for 54 minutes without the main nozzle.

Although the battery can be detached, it is not possible to charge it separately as the charging pin is hidden behind the handle. Dream should consider this improvement in future releases.

3. LED crevice tool

The T30 also has an LED-equipped crevice tool that allows for visibility and tracking of dirt. This is the first time we’re seen or tested one of these products. Although illumination isn’t too distracting, it provides greater visibility than an item without it.

4. Dustbin design

The T30 maintains the same dustbin design of older T10 or T20 models with a 0.15 gallon (or 0.66 liters) capacity. It’s slightly smaller than Dyson V11 for cordless vacuum standards. The trap door design is the same as in the older models, but it does not have a Dyson or hygienic system.

It is completely detachable and can be disassembled if necessary for a thorough clean. Two primary filters are present – a premotor and a post-motor HEPA. It doesn’t have a sealed system. It was tested using a fog machine, and the exhaust had a small leak.

5. Trigger lock

It has one advantage over the Dyson V15: the electronic trigger lock that is located behind the motor. It keeps the motor running without the need to press the trigger. This makes it easier to clean floors.

6. Usability and ergonomics

Dreametech T30 (2)

The Dyson T30 uses a similar design to the Dyson V8. However, it is slightly heavier (3 pounds and 14. ounces vs. V8’s 3 lbs and 8 ounces). You can expect the same handheld ergonomics for floors.

The trigger lock is a slight advantage over Dyson, as there’s less wrist fatigue and arm fatigue. Also, the T30 is more suitable for handheld use, with a flexible hose.

7. Cleaning nozzle design

Dreame included only a one-floor cleaning nozzle. It was the anti-tangle, V-shape pattern brush and combs to untangle the hair. The soft roller attachment is not included. This design works and is one of the most effective (or perhaps the best) at resisting hair tangles in carpets and hard flooring.

Although it can pick up hard floors easily, it’s not as efficient as soft roller attachments, and it doesn’t steer as well. It feels stiff in comparison to a Dyson, but that isn’t a great drawback. It’s still far better than many.

What Power Does the Dreametech T30 Possess?

To measure power, we used an anemometer as well as a vacuum water lift gauge. These are the results of the airflow test using the cleaning nozzle.

  • Low: 26.8 CFM
  • Mid: 30.32 CFM
  • Maximum: 42.08 CFM

The extension wand.

  • Low: 28.44 CFM
  • Mid: 36.89 CFM
  • Maximum: 58.31 CFM

The drop-off between V30 and V15 is greater with the airflow than the suction test. It can reach up to 22.8%. The suction test was even closer, with the T30 having a great 95” of water lifting, which is only 5% less than the V15’s 100.

How Good is the Dreame T30’s Cleaning Performance?

Next, we will examine how clean the T30 floors are. To verify, I ran it through the usual tests for debris types like quinoa and coffee grounds, pet litter, hair, and Quaker oatmeal.

  • Overall: 97.97%
  • Hard floor: 98.17%
  • Sand on hard flooring: 99.89%
  • Carpet: 99.78%
  • Deep cleaning: 95.12%

Its performance on the carpet is the first thing that really stands out. This surface performed better than hard floors. It only comes with the standard brush attachment.

1. Results from hard floors

  • Quaker oats: 93.6%
  • Coffee grounds: 99.8%
  • Quinoa: 99.4%
  • Pet litter: 99.8%

It picked up 93.6% of quaker oats. Pick-up is not the problem, but lack of clearance. The T30’s cleaning head is small, so only a small amount was snow plowed. Another problem is the inefficiency of a soft-roller attachment. This is why we don’t like standard nozzles to clean hard floors.

2. Sand on a hard floor

The T30 was able to pick up sand with a 99.8% average despite not having a soft-roller attachment. To achieve this score, we had to use our maximum setting. This highlights the brush’s inefficiency. Sand is one of the most difficult particles to clean from hard floors. It requires extremely high airflow and agitation.

3. Edge cleaning

The T30 is great at cleaning edges and takes only a few passes. It was not as efficient in the quarter-inch crevice pick-up test, where it left some debris.

4. Hair wrap test on hard floors

Dreametech T30

Next, we will examine the T30’s ability to resist hair tangles when walking on hard floors. The results were outstanding. To torture-test the stick vacuum, we used hair strands ranging from five to twelve inches.

These are the results. It scored 100% in all tests, which is much higher than the Dyson V15, where twelve-inch strands were wrapped around the axle and roller.

5. Performance on the carpet

The brush design and high suction of this vacuum make it more effective on carpet. Its ability to clean carpets with low or mid pile piles is evident. This surface must be cleaned well with high suction and a good seal.

6. Results with low pile

  • Quaker oats: 99.9%
  • Coffee grounds: 99.4%
  • Quinoa: 99.8%
  • Pet litter: 99.9%

These scores are almost perfect for low-pile carpet – comparable to the Dyson V15 Detect or V11 Outsize.

7. Results from mid pile

  • Quaker oats are 99.9%
  • Coffee grounds: 99.6%
  • Quinoa: 99.5%
  • Pet litter: 99.5%

With a 100% overall score, the T30 passed all tests. Its above-average airflow, brush dynamics, and performance are key reasons it performed well.

8. Deep cleaning test

We used 100g of sand to rub the Dreame T30 on the mid-pile carpet to see how it cleaned embedded dirt. On two tests, it picked up 95% as an average being on the maximum setting. This is lower than the Dyson V11 Torque drive, Outsize and V15 Detect but still a great value for the price.

I tried the middle and low settings as well, but the results did not taper.

  • Low: 91.6%
  • Auto: 93.6%

This is a good percentage, but it’s not as high as V15 Detect. This vacuum can be an option if Dyson is too expensive, considering the difference in price.

9. Carpet hair wrap test

The T30 works well on carpet, just like on hard floors. It was able to resist hair strands up to 12 inches long without any wrapping. This is better than the Shark Vertex and Dyson V15 Detect.

The brush is used to wrap hair around the head first, but it eventually separates the hair after about 30 seconds. If you have to remove pet hair from both surfaces, this cordless stick vacuum is a good option. It should be able to clean longer strands.

How Long Can the Dreametech T30 Last?

Dreame claims a run time of 90 minutes. However, tests show that Dream is accurate. The test results were conducted with non-powered tools and took 91 minutes. Turn the main nozzle on, and it will take 55 minutes.

How loud is the DreameTech T30

Here are the results of my noise level testing.

  • Low: 70.6 dB
  • Mid: 72.1 dB
  • Maximum: 77.6 dB

The vacuum is very loud. This is not surprising considering that most cordless high-suction vacuums produce a lot.

Parts Availability

DreameTech is a new brand, so parts will be limited. The good news is that DreameTech has been actively involved in product releases. This means that it is committed to improving. Amazon doesn’t have many parts available, which we find disappointing. The majority of accessories are sold for robot vacuums but not stick vacuums. This will change over time.

Is the Dreametech T30 Worth Investing?

The T30 is a great value for money alternative to the Dyson V15 due to its high suction and excellent carpet cleaning results. The T30 will not steer or deep clean as well the V15 Detect, especially when it is set to low or auto.

Although hard floors perform well, we prefer to use a soft roller for this surface. This is our preference, and the T30 can clean the surface well enough for me to consider. The vacuum has its faults. These are just two that we’ve highlighted, but the differences between the V15 Detect and this vacuum are as large as the price difference.

Five Reasons to Consider the DreameTech T30

  1. High suction: Only the T30 trails the V15 Detect, which has suction that can reach 95 inches.
  2. High-performance carpet vacuum: The vacuum cleans carpets well due to its strong suction, solid brush dynamics, and seal.
  3. T30 has excellent hair pick-up on both surfaces: The results speak for themselves. It was the most effective at resisting hair tangles, even with 12-inch hair strands.
  4. Handheld ergonomics: The flexible hose with trigger lock will make it easier to use above floors.
  5. Long run time: We were able to test it for 93 minutes. This is a remarkable number considering that you only have one battery.

The Final Verdict

THE FINAL ADVICE

The Dyson V15’s shortcomings in steering and filtering are not a problem, but the DreameTech T30 can be an option. If you aren’t bothered by the negatives that we’ve highlighted today, the price difference is worth considering. By compromising very, very, actually very little, you’re saving much money.

Xiaomi is a well-respected company that produces high-quality products. It will be interesting to see if third-party manufacturers start selling parts such as the battery. The T30 Dyson alternative is an acceptable option that won’t cost too much.
